Question by ????????: Mental Illness?
Does anyone in here been diagnosed or has a mental illness. I.e bipolar/manic depression. Are you on medication or do you risk going with the ups and downs on the illness.

Best answer:

Answer by V_for_Venereal
i’ve never been diagnosed per se, but I am not on medication for bipolar. I don’t believe in using the drugs to supress the condition.

I want my body to fight such conditions naturally. It is natural to be depressed. It is unnatural to mask the depression with a drug so that you can be ‘nice’ to be around. Drugs are suggested so the non-sick people around you don’t feel guilty.

Question by maslyn_jl: Depression?
I have been suffering from Bipolar depression for several years now…somewhere around 10 years. The doctor has put me on several different medications that caused me more issues (weight gain, fatigue and other stuff like that) that I could not handle. I have not been on medicine since I had my son 2 years ago. Things seem to be getting worse lately with all the stress that has been added since my wedding in May. I have an appointment with my doctor today to try to get something to help me. It has gotten to the boilling point where I can see my condition hurting my family. Anyone have any suggestions on what medications worked good for you or someone you know? Or any other comments for me…please don’t be negative..that is not going to help me at all..it will only make it worse.
I agree with all of you. I appreciate soo much your suggestions or words of support for me. It helps.

Bill – you are right, I am lacking self-confidence but I have had that problem all of my life. It’s not something I can just snap out of by myself. I almost wonder if at times I need people around me that feel like I do so that we can support each other…I am too embarrased most the time to tell anyone about my problems.

Best answer:

Answer by jjthinstrips
Bravo! You are on the right course! It seems that you are probably too used to the same medicine, and you may need a change…Believe me, it will be worth it!

Question by : What mental disorders are related to lack of self-esteem?
I wanted to ask if there’s any mental disorders for lack of self-esteem. Well actually, I’m looking for a disorder where a person is too fragile in a sense where he is scared of the people around him leaving. He holds and clings on to these people because he doesn’t want them to leave, he can’t stand being alone even for a short period of time.

Is there a disorder for that? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by In Loving Memory – Tank
There could be another disorder more suited, however the only one I know is “Passive-dependent personality disorder”

Persons with passive-dependent personality disorder usually will have lack of self-confidence. These persons will not be able to make decisions. Persons with passive-dependent personality disorder will have tendency to cling and seek support from others.
